Setting up a new client

Setting up a new client in First Choice Final Accounts could not be simpler. Just go the Clients Directory click the ADD button, select the client type in the dialog (SOLE TRADER, PARTNERSHIP, LIMITED COMPANY) and enter the name).
Special note for companies
(1) Ensure that the name entered is exactly the same as shown on the Certificate of Incorporation.
(2) Enter the company's UTR if you wish to use the HMRC Live validation service.

Select a description file template you want to use - either a *special template, a template of an existing client* or the standard template.

 Click SAVE.

Note: You can change the client name and UTR using the edit command, but not the client type.

To learn about other actions connected with the Clients Directory go to The Clients directory screen

*Selecting a special template or an existing client's description file template
Special templates  are the matching templates used in conjunction with an installed Import Conversion file. Select one of these if you intend to import trial balance data with the associated Conversion file.

If the new client has a similar accounting structure, or uses the same or similar accounts file descriptions (and iXBRL tags) or is from the same trading sector as an existing client then select the existing client's template. Thus, any description or tag changes that were made in the existing client's accounts will be made available when creating accounts for the new client. This will help to create a consistent style of narrative and tagging throughout the practice.
